RepliCar Reconfirmed: TÜV SÜD Certifies Simulation Software for ADS Testing
Isabel Metz

Automotive Artificial Intelligence (AAI) GmbH has received certification from TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH for its simulation software RepliCar, version 5.3.2. The certificate confirms that the product meets defined requirements for simulation environments used in the development and testing of automated driving systems (ADS).

What Was Certified

The certificate covers RepliCar 5.3.2 as a cloud-based simulation platform. The software is designed to support the creation and execution of a wide range of traffic scenarios — both logical and concrete — used to test ADS functionality across diverse operational domains.

The evaluation confirmed that RepliCar enables:

  • Generation and management of scenario-based simulation content
  • Execution of test cases relevant to ADS behavior
  • Use in simulation workflows requiring elevation, variation, and scalability
  • Remote access and usability across compatible client environments

The certification was granted after testing according to TÜV SÜD’s internal quality framework for simulation platforms, referencing the following standards:

  • PPP 91001A:2021
  • PPP 91002A:2021
  • PPP 91003A:2021
  • PPP 91004A:2021

Background: The Role of Certification in Simulation

As simulation becomes an increasingly central part of ADS and ADAS development, the importance of independently verified software grows. Certification such as this provides:

  • A defined reference point for internal and external quality assurance
  • Added confidence in simulation-based test environments
  • Support for tool qualification within structured development processes

While certification is not mandatory for all development tools, it can play a useful role in ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations—particularly in safety-driven or standards-based engineering contexts.
